About me

Freelance Floral Designer

Lucy Hutton Smith NDSF,AIFD

I started my floristry career over 20 years ago. In that time I built up my experience, won awards for my designs and gained all my floristry qualifications including the National Diploma of the Society of Floristry and the American Institute of Floral Design. I have a keen interest in keeping my skills updated through being aware of current trends in the industry. All aspects of floristry can be covered.

For 18 years I managed a busy and successful flower shop in Northallerton, and have only recently become freelance and am based in North Yorkshire. My work can be seen at various demonstrations and in hotels and restaurants in the area. I have had work featured in Yorkshire Brides magazine, and my designs have been included in various books and articles in floristry publications.

I am an ambassador and product advisor for Smithers-Oasis - which is a varied and interesting job, involving testing new products, demonstrating their uses and creating designs with them . I am also a floristry lecturer at Askham Bryan College, York.
